Garden club holds monthly meeting Camellia Garden Club members met in the beautifully decorated home of Vivian Davis for their Christmas party. Gladys Bragg gave the invocation. The members enjoyed the program of Christmas carols rendered by Will Gay. Wilma Gainey presented him with a gift from the members Camellia Garden Club members made 31 Christmas stockings and contributed $31, 52 toiletries and socks for the patients for the Georgia Regional Hospital in Savannah. Camellia members made history in the baby department from June through October of 2007 with single, double and triple births: Ava Brantley, granddaughter of Jeanette Brantley; the Wiggins twins, Avery and Tanner, whose mother is Daphne and grandmother is Annette Gay; and the Cowart triplets, Charlotte, Maggie and William, grandchildren of Veronica Cowart. Members exchanged Christmas ornaments. Davis and Elaine Williams served pie, nuts, coffee and punch to the group. Camellia Garden Club members met at Planters Electric Membership Corp. for their January meeting. President Doris Rabitsch called the meeting to order. Bragg read a poem, bringing in the New Year. Brantley gave a horticulture tip, and Davis gave a water conservation tip. Members discussed the pruning and fertilizing of trees and shrubbery. Members made 85 valentines, using red roses, to be placed on the patient trays at Bethany Home on Valentine's Day. Brantley and Barbara Bowers served refreshments. |
