Spelling bee held
Jenkins County Elementary School held its annual school spelling bee in the school media center Wednesday, Jan. 23. Each fourth and fifth grade homeroom had their own spelling bee and found a class champion and runner up. These 22 students were chosen to represent their classes in the school bee. All of the students did a very good job, as it wasn't until the third round that any students were put out of the bee. Finally, after six rounds of spelling, fifth grade students Tori Becton, shown at right, and Tyler Wagner were chosen as the champion and the runner up, respectively. Along with Tori and Tyler, Mia King and Jasmine Williams were also chosen to go on to the District Spelling Bee. (Photo contributed)
