Garden Clubs commemorate Arbor Day

The Millen Garden Council is comprised of the five garden clubs in Jenkins County. Join the members at Jenkins County Hospital 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, to commemorate Arbor Day by planting trees on the hospital grounds.

Pancake Supper

The annual Millen Lions Club Pancake Supper will be held from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at the Millen Community House. Plates will be available for "dine in or take out." Tickets are $5 each, and are available at the door or from any Lions Club member.

Oklahoma! Comes to Millen Saturday, March 1

Live theater will again come to Millen Saturday, March 1, with the performance of "Oklahoma" at the Olde Pal Theatre at 7 p.m. This Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II musical is produced and directed by Tony Phillips of Statesboro, who brought "The Sound of Music" and "High School Musical" to Millen last year. The production is sponsored by Millen Better Hometown and Millen/Jenkins County Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are $10 each and are available at the Chamber office on Cotton Avenue. '39ers to meet

The '39ers will hold a covered dish meeting noon, Monday, Feb. 18, at the Millen Community House. Visitors are welcome.

Recreation Department holding ball registration

Jenkins County Recreation Department (JCRD) is now holding registration for Boys Baseball, ages 6 - 17; Girls Fast Pitch Softball, ages 6 - 17; and Boys and Girls T-ball, ages 4 and 5. All participants must present a birth certificate and proof of insurance. The cost is $35 per child. Registration is currently being held at JCRD 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The deadline is Friday, Feb. 29.

Coaches are also needed. Requirements include having a criminal background check and being certified in CPR. Those interested should obtain an application by Tuesday, Feb. 26.
