The Jenkins County JROTC Drill Team traveled to Swainsboro to compete in an eight-team drill meet last Saturday, Feb. 2. The Squad Armed Regulation Male Mixed team commanded by Louis Williams with team members Fernando Gomez, Keith Kelly, Steve Barber, Demetrius Cutter, La'Tranese Sapp and Carneisha Bell easily outperformed the teams from Southeast Bulloch, Statesboro and Swainsboro.
Last week the Jenkins County Armed Squad beat the second place Statesboro team by 42 points and third place Southeast Bulloch by 48 points. This week the War Eagles stretched the margin of victory to 98 points over second place Southeast Bulloch and 123 points over third place Statesboro. Emanuel County Institute came in a distant fourth at 251 points behind first place.
In the Male Mixed Unarmed Regulation event commanded by Ra'shon Brady with team members Paul Salter, Courtney Johnson, Andres Jeronimo, Marques Moody, Kori Hering and Ebony Jeff, the competition dwindled down to just one team competing against the War Eagles. Jenkins County beat the Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs by 97 points to capture their second consecutive week of victory. Last week ECI finished fourth, 169 points from the first place team. The ECI drill team has made up almost half the difference in just one week. The War Eagle Squad cannot rest on their past accomplishments with the Bulldogs making tremendous progress each week.
