Mr. Peter Royal, 64, of Millen died Feb. 15

Mr. Peter Emerson (Pete) Royal, 64, of Millen died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 after an extended illness.

His funeral was held 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at The Church of God with the Rev. James Cox, Bobby Dailey and Dr. Ray Freeman officiating. Burial was in the Millen Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. Royal was born in Jenkins County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was awarded a purple heart for wounds in action.

He attended both Green Fork Baptist Church and The Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Elene Cooper Royal, and his baby sister, Becky M. Royal.

Survivors include his three sisters, Joyce R. Thompson of Millen and Jewel R. Bevel and Patsy R. (Calvin) Lane, both of Thomaston; his brother, Riley (Pauline) Royal of Millen; his special friends, Hazel Burke and family; and several nieces and nephews.
