Each year as part of Black History Month Celebration, Augusta State University recognizes the two African-American high school seniors from each of the high schools in the CSRA with the highest grade point average. These students will be honored at a ceremony Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre at Augusta State University. Ruth Hearn, Guidance Counselor at Jenkins County High School is proud to announce that Dee Dee Davis and Keeley Sapp have earned this prestigious recognition for 2007-2008.
The National Achievement Scholarship Program recently recognized both of these young women for scoring in the top 5 percent of more than 140,000 Black Americans who tested nationwide in the PSAT. Dee Dee is the daughter of Regina Davis, and will attend Savannah State University upon graduation and major in accounting and minor in business marketing. Keely, the daughter of Elizabeth Roundtree and Charlie Sapp, will attend Georgia Southern University with plans to major in a pre-veterinarian program.
