"A Step Back in Time in Jenkins

County" Flower Show

"A Step Back in Time in Jenkins County," a standard flower show, will be presented by the Millen Garden Council Saturday, March 1, at the Jenkins County Agriculture Center. The show will be open to the public from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. There is no charge for admission.

Oklahoma! comes to Millen

Saturday, March 1

Live theater will again come to Millen Saturday, March 1, with the performance of "Oklahoma" at the Olde Pal Theatre at 7 p.m.

This Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II musical is produced and directed by Tony Phillips of Statesboro, who brought "The Sound of Music" and "High School Musical" to Millen last year.

The production is sponsored by Millen Better Hometown and Millen/Jenkins County Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are $10 each and are available at the chamber office on Cotton Avenue. Call (478) 982-5595 for more information.

District 6 Fire Department

Community Supper

Members of South Jenkins District 6 Volunteer Fire Department invite everyone to a "Community Covered Dish Supper" 7 p.m. Friday, March 14, at the fire station located at 4822 W. Old Savannah Road. Please bring a covered dish with the food of your choice; the department will prepare the meat. Possibly music will be provided.

FSA Reminders

Small grain producers are reminded to report their wheat, oats and rye acreages to the local FSA office by Saturday, March 1. Disaster program signups are ongoing. Sales closing date for purchasing crop insurance on spring seeded crops, such as cotton, peanuts, corn, soybeans, etc. is Thursday, Feb. 28.

GED testing

The GED examination will be given at Swainsboro Technical College Monday, March 10, and Tuesday, March 11.

Required registration will be held at 9 a.m. in building number 8, and at 6 p.m. in building number one, room 1109, on Monday, March 3. Picture identification and a social security card must be presented, and the $95 test fee is due, at registration.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. If applicants are 18 or 19 years of age, an official withdrawal from the last school attended must also be presented at registration.

JCHS School Council to meet The School Council of Jenkins County High School will meet 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, in the school media center.
