An on going investigation conducted by Jenkins County Sheriff Tim Fields and deputies of the Jenkins County Sheriff's Office into the illegal drug trade in Jenkins County has resulted in two arrests and seizure of a Toyota Tacoma truck, ¼ pound of marijuana and 3.5 grams of powder cocaine, also known as an eight ball of cocaine. The estimated street value of the drugs is $1,000.
Arrested were Cale Carlton Martin, 30, and his wife Danielle Marie Martin, 32, of Bartow. The two face numerous charges which include possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and driving under the influence (DUI).
On Sunday, Feb. 24, Sheriff Fields and his deputies were conducting surveillance of a known high-level drug dealer when they observed him making a drug drop at a residence in Jenkins County. The drug dealer gave the drugs to the married couple from Jefferson County who were driving a Toyota truck.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle as it left a residence in Jenkins County and called for a drug dog from Screven County Sheriff's Office to assist in the search of the Toyota truck. The K-9 alerted to the presence of illegal drugs, and a physical search was conducted which revealed the illegal drugs.
