Oratorical Contest

The Millen Optimist Club cordially invites the public to its annual Oratorical Contest 4 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at Morrison Grove Baptist Church on Old Louisville Road.

The official topic for this year is "Why Me? Why Not?" The contest is open to youth 15 years of age and under.

Millen Better Hometown hosts

Easter Egg Hunt

Millen Better Hometown will host its annual community Easter "Eggs"travaganza Saturday, March 22, promptly at 10 a.m. at the little ball fields by Edenfield's Feed and Seed.

There will be three age groups: walking to 3 years of age (may be accompanied by an adult,) 4 - 7 years of age and 8 - 10 years of age.

Two-thousand plastic eggs filled with candy will be hidden. Prizes will be given in each age group for five specially marked eggs. Each child should bring a bag or basket to hold the eggs they find.

Volunteer Fire

Department The South Jenkins Volunteer Fire Department Station #5 will hold its annual meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at the station in the Four Points community. A meal will be served. The public is invited.

Confederate

Memorial Service

A Confederate Memorial Service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at Big Horse Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Jenkins County for CSA soldiers J.C. Edenfield and W.J. McMillan.

The service is sponsored by Margaret Jones #27 United Daughters of the Confederacy of Waynesboro in cooperation with Buckhead-Fort Lawton Brigade Camp #2102 Sons of Confederate Veterans of Jenkins County.

All friends and family are invited.

Supper

Members of South Jenkins District 6 Volunteer Fire Department invite everyone to a "Community Covered Dish Supper" 7 p.m. Friday, March 14, at the fire station located at 4822 W. Old Savannah Road. Please bring a covered dish with the food of your choice; the department will prepare the meat. Possibly music will be provided.
