Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

Last week's article in The Millen News about the recent drug bust caused me some concern. The article stated that the Sheriff's office was following a known drug dealer, and I wondered why he was not also arrested. I spoke with Sheriff Fields, and he told me that there was a misstatement in the article. It should have said "Acting on information provided by a reliable source the Sheriff 's office knew that a drug deal was about to be made in Jenkins County by a suspected high volume drug dealer."

The information from the informant was received too late for them to catch the transaction and even though they were unable to catch the big dealer, they were able to apprehend the low-level drug dealer and confiscate the drugs before they could be sold to our youth.

Hat's off to our local law enforcement officials for a job well done and a wish of "better luck next time" in catching the big fish. It is just a matter of time. Thanks too for good informants.
