Leta Gay Smith, 90, of Millen died Feb. 29

Leta Gay Smith of Millen, 90, died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008.

Her funeral was held 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, at Elam Baptist Church with Dr. Maurice Crowder and the Rev. Kevin Farmer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was born in Jenkins County. She was a retired schoolteacher and member of the Elam Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer Smith, and her sons, Freddie Smith and Teddy Smith.

Survivors include her granddaughters, Felice Smith Jenkins of Millen and Becky Smith; grandsons, Teddy Smith, Freddie Smith, Jerry Smith and Benjy Smith; a brother, Randall Gay of Garfield; a sister, Lottie G. Potts of Marietta; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers were Randy Gay, Ben Gay, Harry Gay, Ronnie Gazaway, Garry Smith and Tony Gay.
