JCHS baseball season gets underway

On Thursday, Feb. 28, the Jenkins County High School varsity Eagles baseball team defeated East Laurens 14-8.

Leading hitters for the Eagles were: Justin Johnson, 4-5 ,1 RBI , 1 Run Scored, 2 stolen bases; Boyd Sasser, 3-4, 3 RS, 2 SB, 2 RBI; Caleb Chance 3-5 ,2 Doubles, 4 RBI's ,2 RS; Zac Clark 1-2 , 3 walks, 2 RS; and Will Bragg 2-4 ,1 Double, 1 RS.

Trevor Weathersby came in relief to get the win pitching 4 1/3 innings, giving up no runs and only one hit with eight strikeouts. Caleb Chance came in to get the save.

"I was very proud of the way they fought back after being down eight runs in the second inning to not give up any runs in the last five innings, then scoring 14 runs with some great hitting. Great start to the season," commented coach Wendell Clark.
