The Jenkins County High School (JCHS) graduating class of 1977 held their "30th High School Reunion" Friday, Oct. 12, and Saturday, Oct. 13.
On Friday, the former classmates met at the Jenkins County Agriculture Building for hors d' oeuvres. They were given a tour of the high school and the newly-constructed gymnasium by Dr. Joey Kirkland, JCHS principal. Afterward, the group attended the football game wearing their "30th High School Reunion" T-shirts. During half-time, Lacey (Butch) Frye announced the class' donation of $400 to the Jenkins County Athletic Booster Club, which was accepted by Matt Brinson.
On Saturday, the group reunited for a "meet and greet," as well as group pictures. A memorabilia table was set up for "A Trip Down Memory Lane," for which classmates had brought yearbooks, pictures, letter jackets and more. Later in the evening, a very nice dinner, program and '70s-era music were enjoyed by all. Plans and a committee were set in place for the class' 35th reunion. During the program, classmates who are deceased were named and sadly missed.
It was a wonderful reunion, and all are eagerly awaiting the 35th!
