4-H News ATTENTION all 4-H'ers: With Cloverleaf DPA just around the corner, kids are already coming in and working on their demonstrations. Slots are filling up fast. If you wish to participate in Cloverleaf DPA for 2008, go by the 4-H office and ask to talk to Ms. Anna Burgess or Mrs. Elaine Lanier. As a 4-H'er, I can personally say that if you haven't done DPA before, you have to try it at least once! I guarantee you'll love it. While you're working on your demonstration at the 4-H Office, you'll get to hang out with your friends and eat snacks! Part of your demonstration is your speech. You're probably saying, "awe… a speech!" Look, it's not hard. You may even think you can't give a speech in front of other people, but I'm telling you from experience, it's not hard! Plus, Ms. Anna and Mrs. Elaine will have you come to the office and let you give your presentation in front of them. They'll help you overcome your stage fright. It's not like you give your presentation in front of a hundred people, you give your speech in front of 10, maybe 15, people. When it comes time to give your presentation, we load up on the 4-H bus and go over to Ebenezer Middle School. We usually get there at 8:45-9 a.m. After an opening assembly, we break up into groups and start giving presentations about 10 a.m. After you give your presentation, you go to the lunchroom and chow down on whatever we're having (probably hamburgers or hotdogs). After you eat, you go to the gym and play games. Last year they even had the big slides. When that's over, we have the awards ceremony. It usually last about an hour, but it's not boring. You don't have time to be bored. Between receiving your own awards, cheering for your friends, or just flat out cheering for kids you don't even know, it's over before you know it. Then a few weekends later, we go bowling. As you can see, DPA isn't hard, it's fun! That's why if I were you, I'd do it! In other news, registrations for 4-H camp are now being accepted at the 4-H office. This year we're headed up to Rock Eagle, the largest 4-H camp in the world. Rock Eagle is located in Eatonton, GA. At camp you can climb a giant rope ladder, swing n a zip line, and have the most fun you've ever had in your life. Did we mention you'll sleep in air conditioned cabins? Sorry no cell phones, but hey, who needs them? You'll be having too much fun to worry about them. There are only 12 spaces left so hurry and sign up. The total price is $230, with $75 of that due as a non-refundable deposit. So sign up and we can guarantee one thing- you'll have the most fun you've ever had in your life! 4-H officers, there will be a meeting after school Thursday, March 6. If you're an officer, please try and be there. Also, if you are on the Dairy Judging Team, don't forget about your practices every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. |
