If you do not believe March has arrived, Saturday should have convinced you. The wind was rough - rushing air with an attitude! A trip to the mailbox left my hair tied in knots and had me feeling "beat up" by the time I made it back to the house. It was a day to stay inside - unless you are a kite-flyer.

I am still trying to chase down my lawn chairs. I think they were spotted in Burke County. And my wind chimes haven't recovered yet from the beating they took.

I hope participants in the Super Eagle Day activities on the courthouse lawn didn't get blown away. Has anyone seen Ray Miller or Jim Hite lately? I bet some records were broken in the road races - provided the wind was at the racers' backs.

Why is it that we can't get wind like that on a 100 degree July day or in August when the gnats and mosquitoes are tormenting everything that moves? A little breeze would be welcomed then.

Sunday, on the other hand, was a beautiful spring day, a perfect example of how quickly the weather can change - kind of like life. We never know what the next day might bring!
