Datebook Magnolia Springs State Park Plans for Magnolia Springs State Park Heritage Festival have been finalized. It will be held Saturday, April 5, at the park, which is located five miles North of Millen on U.S. Hwy 25. Activities will include a living history program and a kids' fishing rodeo, and local talent will entertain throughout the day. The living history program will include rifle and artillery demonstrations and the History Museum will be open for tours. The food and craft booths will open at 10 a.m. Food and craft booth spaces are available. If you would like to participate in the talent program, spaces are still open for this, as well. Millen Better Hometown hosts Easter Egg Hunt Millen Better Hometown will host its annual community Easter "Eggs"travaganza Saturday, March 22, promptly at 10 a.m. at the little ball fields by Edenfield's Feed and Seed. There will be three age groups: walking to 3 years of age (may be accompanied by an adult,) 4 - 7 years of age and 8 - 10 years of age. Two-thousand plastic eggs filled with candy will be hidden. Prizes will be given in each age group for five specially marked eggs. Each child should bring a bag or basket to hold the eggs they find. Sales Closing Date for Crop Insurance USDA's Risk Management Agency (RMA) reminds farmers of the Saturday, March 15, sales closing date for crop insurance. This sales closing date is applicable for the following program in Georgia: Adjusted Gross Revenue Lite. The sales closing date is the last date to purchase a new policy or to change the level of coverage for an existing policy. Crop insurance is sold and delivered solely through private crop insurance agents. Contact a local Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) agent to learn additional program details. A list of crop insurance agents is available at all USDA Service Centers or on the RMA website at http://www.rma.usda.gov/tools/ agents/. '39ers to meet The '39ers will meet noon Monday, March 17, at the Millen Community House. CSRA Chapter of the Citadel The CSRA chapter of The Citadel will have a Muster at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at the Wild Turkey Center in Edgefield, S.C. to honor all of the alumni who have passed away over the preceding year. JCRD offers karate classes
Jenkins County Recreation Department (JCRD) is now offering karate classes for ages 5 and older. Classes will begin Tuesday, March 25. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. The fee is $40 per month. Coach Terry Langston will be the instructor. Register at JCRD in advance or on the first night of class.
