CASA and Foster Youth Day at the Capitol

Three people representing the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Program for the Ogeechee Circuit attended the annual "CASA and Foster Youth Day at the Capitol" event in Atlanta on Tuesday, Feb. 12, as they met with senators and representatives to ask for support of a funding increase for the CASA organization in Georgia. Representatives from the local program included Ruby Andrews, board member, Tomekia Reed, volunteer, and Carolyn Fields, executive director. CASA, a nationwide organization celebrating its 20th year in Georgia, provides volunteer advocacy to abused and neglected children who have been removed from their homes and are involved in juvenile court proceedings. CASA volunteers advocate for a safe, permanent home for each child, as quickly as possible. For more information about CASA in the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit serving Bulloch, Effingham, Jenkins and Screven counties, call (912) 764-4849 or email edcasaogee@frontiernet.net.
