4-H News
Anna Burgess County Extension Agent

This weekend I had the pleasure of going to the Jenkins County pageant in the gym. There were several 4-H'ers competing, and all did an excellent job! After the program, Jimmy Faye White, mother of Miss Jenkins County High School 2008 Melissa White, came to me and said, "I want you to know, I credit Melissa's participation in DPA with her ability to present herself to an audience and speak with a clear, confident voice." I really appreciated Jimmy Faye saying that because even though I was not the one who worked with Melissa on her projects, that statement holds true for all DPA participants. I am a firm believer and living example of the difference 4-H can make in one's life. With cloverleaf DPA fast approaching, I hope parents and children who are skeptical of DPA will learn from the experiences of others and realize this is not something you need to miss out on!

Cloverleaf DPA has been rescheduled to March 29, instead of April 5. The absolutely last day to sign-up is next Tuesday, March 18. If you sign up on March 18, you will have a lot of work to do in a little time, but it can be done and it will be worth it!

Dairy Judging has been going great. We seem to keep getting a new participant at every practice! If you are participating in Dairy, it is important you attend at least 5 of the next 7 practices. If you do not, you will not be guaranteed a spot at the competition.

We still have a few spaces open for all camps. If you have not signed up for camp and would like to go, please bring your deposit by as soon as possible!

Junior 4-H'ers, be on the lookout for an event to be held just for you! Also, I want to thank Tyler Taylor for stepping up and writing the news article for the paper last week. If any other 4-H'er would like to write for the paper, please let me know. Thank you and have a great week!!
