Coach James Ford was honored by the community and his past players during the Black History Program held Sunday, Feb. 24. This was a complete surprise to Coach Ford, who came to give recognition to other blacks that made history in Jenkins County. The program was spearheaded by June Powell.

Coach Willie Haynes, Josh Lake, Michael Summers, Jackie Yancey Brown and Coach Randy Cooper spoke in honor of Coach Ford. The message was delivered by his pastor, the Rev. Eric Tate of Daniel Grove Baptist Church. Closing remarks were made by the Rev. P.M. Broomfield, pastor of Zion Baptist Church.

About the 12 state appearances, more than 350 victories, being a five-time GACA Coach of the Year and a CSRA Coach of the Year and more, Coach Ford stated that he owed it all to a fine group of young men and women and their parents, for lending them to him for these great moments in life.

Coach Ford was presented a lovely eagle trophy.
