Lady Eagles place second at meet

The Jenkins County High School (JCHS) Lady War Eagles track team went to Screven County Thursday, March 13, and ran against some very tough competition but the strong JCHS team finished second place. The team competed against Statesboro, Calvary Day and Screven County.

Coach Chuck Sanders stated, "The Lady Eagles were well represented by some great performances at this meet."

Coach Sanders was very pleased by the performances given by his freshman girls against some high caliber athletes.

Freshman Ayana Walker won the Long Jump event with a jump of 16'11".Walker was second in the 100 meters and second in the 200 meter race. Another freshman, Zandra Lake finished second in the Triple Jump and fourth in the 200 meter race.

Sophomores Deondra Lewis and Natalie Branch were also outstanding in their field events. Lewis finished third in the Shot and Discus events. Branch finished third in the 110 Hurdles.

Junior Andrea Pittman had a great performance winning the 2 mile race and finishing fourth in the 1 mile event.

"The team is getting better each and every meet and we are building up for the region meet in April", says Coach Sanders.

The Lady Eagles will travel back to Screven County on Thursday, March 20.
