Pittman sets record in Super Eagle 5K

Almost 90 runners and walkers braved the cold windy weather and competed in the Fifth Annual Super Eagle Day 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, held on March 8.
Millen's Andrea Pittman set a certified course record in the 5K. Andrea's time for the 3.1 mile race was 24 minutes and 13 seconds. Statesboro's Stephen Harvey was the overall winner in a time of 19 minutes and 15 seconds.
First place trophy winners in the 5k were: Zac Becton, Tori Becton, Mark Brannen, Sara Jenkins, Remigo Gomez, Burt Carter, Mick Danielson, Ted Harvey, Beth Lane, Bill Reynolds, Pam Dwight and Rick Umpleby.
Second place trophy winners in the 5k were: Bowden James, Kolton Lee, Johnna Forehand, James Bramblett, Tony Fu, Jimmy Brannen and Greg Rowell.
Third place trophy winners in the 5k were: Tyler Taylor, Chelsea Taylor, Boyd Sasser and Randy Whaley.
In the 1 Mile Fun Run, Millen's Will Brinson led a field of 58 runners and walkers from start to finish and won the mile in a time of 6 minutes and 24 seconds. Beth Lane won the women's mile in 7 minutes and 37 seconds.
First place medal winners in the 1-mile were: Carson James, Gayla Landing, Zan Becton, Sara Brooke Thompson, Caleb Lindsey, Brooke Landing, Tyler Taylor, Amanda Harden, Marlon Sapp, Krista Gay, Ayana Walker, Bobby James, Nan Searles, Donna Boone, Bob Boone, Judy Holton and Sue Gillis.
Second place medal winners in the 1-mile were: Andrew Hoopes, Brett Landing, Ty'dre Lee, Alyssa Brannen, Will Finch, Robin Boone, Jamaine Torrence, Kristin McLamb, Katelyn Head, Randy Whaley, Penny Tanner, Anette Head, Irene Drummer and Mary Bragg.
Third place medal winners in the 1-mile were: Austin Wagner, Maggie Searles, Wesley Finch, Robert Highsmith, Jessica Head, Raymond McLamb, Kim Landing, Julie Gainey and Pam Dwight.
This year's event was sponsored by the Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center. Children 12 and under received a free book, courtesy of the Family Enrichment Center with the help of Ms. Pam Dwight.
Post race refreshments were provided by Augusta Coca Cola and by the Jenkins County High School FCCLA and Ms. Lloyd and Ms. Kennedy.
Others assisting were Billy Alligood of the Jenkins County EMT's and Daniel Boulineau of the Millen Police Department.
