Morrison Grove Baptist Church Spring

Youth Revival

Community Youth Sunday will be held 11:30 a.m. Sunday, March 30, at Morrison Grove Baptist Church.

Community Youth Sunday began in 1980 with a vision to provide a forum for young people to fellowship together, while developing leadership and presentation skills under the guidance of church and community leaders. It also brings inspirational role models to the youth of Millen and Jenkins County and showcases talent that is homegrown.

The speaker will be Chris Thomas, who joined WRDW TV, 12 On Your Side, in July of 2007 as the city government reporter. He was named Reporter of the Year by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of the CSRA after just six months on the job.

Prior to reporting at News 12, Thomas interned at NBC, ABC and FOX news affiliates in his hometown of Birmingham, Ala. Most recently, he completed an internship at the leading news station in Atlanta, WSB-TV.

Thomas is no stranger to city government. He has had the distinct pleasure of serving as host of his own talk show on Time- Warner cable. The show sought to highlight "What's Right with the Birmingham City Schools." He has also assisted with election coverage in Birmingham and Atlanta.

Thomas majored in English and graduated with departmental honors from Morehouse College.
