City accepts bid for gas line relocation
By Deborah Bennett Millen News Editor

During a called meeting Monday, March 17, the City of Millen accepted a bid for relocation of gas lines along U.S. Highway 25 to Classic City Mechanic in the amount of $175,490. The lines must be relocated due to the Savannah River Parkway construction project.

In other action, council authorized the city attorney to negotiate an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Jenkins County Commissioners. The agreement will allow the city to accept contaminated water from a sedimentation pond at the county landfill into the city waste water treatment plant for disposal. In return, the county will dispose of concrete debris from the Cotton Avenue TE-grant project for the city.
