Tracksters take second at Tattnall

The Jenkins County High School War Eagles finished second overall when they traveled to Tattnall County to compete in a 4-team track meet against the Tattnall County Warriors, Toombs County Bulldogs, and region rival Portal Panthers Tuesday, March 18.

"We had to deal with strong winds all day long which is not a great combination for running track," commented coach Charley. "Our times were a little slower than normal but the guys placed well in most events. We are still finding out what we can do well and trying to improve where we can. The next three weeks will be very important for us to come together for the region meet in mid- April. These guys will work hard and do their very best."

Overall standings - Tattnall 1st - 89 points, Jenkins Co. 2nd - 70 points, Portal - 3rd - 46 points, Toombs Co. - 4th - 20 points.

The War Eagles finished third overall in a three team track meet in Screven County Thursday, March 20.

"We are tired and are having some leg problems right now from some key guys," coach Water said. "We are getting a good look at our new guys that came out this year and that can only be a positive when we get to the region meet."
