Girls track team soars above competition at Tattnall meet The Jenkins County High School girls track team competed at Tattnall County March 18. The Lady Eagles came away with a big win in this meet. They defeated Tattnall County, Toombs County and Portal. There were some outstanding performances from the girls. Ayana Walker won the Long Jump, the 100m race and was on the first place 4 x100 meter relay team and the 4 x 400 meter relay team. Zandra Lake won the Triple Jump and was second in the 200m race and was also part on the winning 4 x100 meter team and the 4 x400 meter relay team. Andrea Pittman won both the 1 and 2 mile races with Sharantee Dixon finishing second in the 2 Mile event. Krista Gay finished second in the 1 Mile event. Keeley Sapp and Natalie Branch also had a great day. They both finished high in their events, Branch second in the 110 and 300 Hurdles and Sapp finishing third in the 200 Meter race and on both relay teams. On Thursday, March 20, the Lady Eagles track team traveled back to Screven County to face Southeast Bulloch and Sylvania. Ayana Walker had another outstanding meet. Walker finished first in the Long Jump and first in the 300 Hurdles and second in the 100m race. Also having another great day was Andrea Pittman. Pittman finished second in the 1 Mile and 2 Mile events. Coach Sanders said, "The girls did an excellent job and continue to get better and better and should be in great position to make a run at region in April." |
