Applications sought for Kasey Lane Memorial Scholarship

The Jenkins County Extension Leadership Committee is sponsor of the Kasey Lane Memorial Scholarship. Funding for the scholarship was derived from a $5 admittance charge at the recent Agriculture Banquet.

The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize and assist a deserving and outstanding graduating senior who is pursuing some type of secondary education (college, technical school, or 2-year college) in agriculture and environmental sciences, family and consumer sciences or forestry. A student currently enrolled in one of these areas of study at an accredited college, technical school or 2-year college will also qualify as a candidate for the scholarship.

One $500 scholarship will be awarded once the student has demonstrated proof of attendance at a respective institution.

The criteria for applying for the Kasey Lane Memorial Scholarship are as follows: Students submitting an application must be a high school senior for the current academic year and plan to be enrolled in some type of secondary education during the 2008-2009 school year. Students already enrolled in sec- ondary education may also apply. The student must be a resident of Jenkins County. No photos or additional pages will be accepted, only the application.

All applications must be submitted to the Jenkins County Extension Service Office by May 1.
