Library News
By Sharon Blank

It's almost National Library Week, and you know what the best way to celebrate that is - come to the library! It's a wonderful idea at any time of year, of course, but especially at this time. After all, April is also National Poetry Month, and how can you appreciate poetry without reading it? We've got a great selection of poetry ranging from Shel Silverstein, (quite possibly the most funny poetry ever written,) to Robert Frost, e.e. cummings and more!

Not into poetry? Prefer music? Well, it's Jazz Appreciation Month, too, and we have some great jazz CDs available for checkout! Thelonious Monk, Louis Armstrong and more are awaiting your listening pleasure.

Or maybe you'd like to know more about making your garden grow - and we can help with that too! We have an excellent collection of books and magazines on all aspects of gardening and for all skill levels, from keeping your houseplants alive to coming up with the best arrangements to help you win that ribbon at the flower show.

Perhaps you'd prefer to participate in a program or workshop? You're in luck! If you're an artist or writer, bring your work to the library for the Zine Scene, a chance to design and publish your very own minimagazine or comic book! It's a great chance to see your work in print, and on our library shelves! We'll be holding it at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, so please join us - we'll have everything you need standing ready to go!

Now, on to the books!

DEN OF MISERY: INDIANA'S CIVIL WAR PRISON by James R. Hall. Camp Morton, Indiana. Touted as a model of how a Northern prison was supposed to be run, it was in actuality a hell deliberately created to punish Confederates by withholding food, supplies and even by committing murder. Based on accounts by former prisoners at Camp Morton.

BOAZ BROWN by Michelle Stimpson. LaShondra Smith had everything she wanted in life, except a man. She knew just what kind of a man she needed, too - strong, supportive, sensitive, Godly and black. And then she meets Stelson Brown, and her world turns upside down.
