Dwayne Herrington to oversee MFD, MPD

The City of Millen's fire and police departments have a new supervisor. Effective April 1, Dwayne Herrington was named Director of Public Safety and charged with the duty of overseeing both departments, along with the local 9-1-1 emergency response department.
Herrington joined the Millen Fire Department in July, 1989. He was named Fire Chief in 1996 and served in that capacity until his appointment as Director of Public Safety.
He is a 1986 graduate of Jenkins County High School and has been certified through the Fire and Police Academy as a firefighter and police officer. Herrington has worked as a part time deputy with the Jenkins County Sheriff's Department since 1999.
He is married to Tracey Herrington, and has two daughters, Skylar and Jessica. He is the son of John Thomas and Myra Herrington of Millen.
