Veterans attend highway dedication
Local veterans recently attended a dedication ceremony at Tybee Beach designating U.S. Highway 80 through Georgia as Korean War Veterans Highway. Participants in the ceremony included U.S. Congressman Jack Kingston; Jason Beulterman, mayor of Tybee; Dale Barnett, department commander of the Georgia American Legion; and Kwang Jae Lee, consul general of the Republic of Korea. Many South Koreans were present to shake the hands of veterans who sacrificed so much for their freedom. Seventy-five thousand Georgians served during the hostilities, with 740 Georgians and 415,000 Republic of Korea soldiers giving their lives during the war.
