Eagles win two, lose two on diamond

The Jenkins County High School varsity baseball team ended a week of play with two wins and two losses.

The Eagles defeated Savannah Country Day 9-4.

Leading hitters were Boyd Sasser 3-3, 4RS, 3SB; Zac Clark 3-3, 3RS, homerun, double, 5 RBI's; and Justin Lanier, Spencer Clark, Houston Bowers and Ethan Conway all went 1-3.

Aaron Comstock got the win pitching a complete game and giving up only four hits in a great win.

The Eagles defeated Calvary Baptist 13-10.

Leading hitters were Caleb Chance 3-4, 1 double, 2 RBI's; Spencer Clark 2-4, homerun, 2 RBI's; Zac Clark 2-4, 2 RBI's, 2 RS; Josh Lee 1-2, double 2 BB; and Ethan Conway 1-3, Double, 1 RBI's.

Coach Wendell Clark commented, "This was a very hard fought game against the number four team in the state."

Ethan Conway and Trevor Weathersby pitched the first six innings and Will Bragg came in relief.

The Eagles lost to Portal 7-3 and lost to Calvary Baptist 11-1.

Leading hitters in the Portal game were Justin Lanier 2-4, 1 RBI's; Caleb Chance 1-2, Double, 1 RBI's; and Dag Gay 1-1.

"It's very hard to play during spring break and stay focused. We loaded the bases four times and just couldn't get the key hit," said Coach Clark. "Will Bragg pitched a good game."

Leading hitters in the game against Calvary were Boyd Sasser and Spencer Clark 2-3, 1RBI and 1 run scored; Ethan Conway 1-2; and Zac Clark and Will Brinson 1-3.
