The fight against cancer is being brought to the local level with the annual Jenkins County Relay for Life getting underway this weekend. The event will take place at the Jenkins County Recreation complex with activities beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, May 2, and concluding at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 3. The luminary event will take place at dusk.
Activities planned throughout the night include a halfrubber tournament and other forms of entertaining including music and singers. Food items will also be available for purchase.
In conjunction with the event, the Dairy Queen will donate a percentage of sales made 5-9 p.m. Friday, May 2, to the Relay for Life. Enjoy a Dairy Queen treat and support the fight against cancer.
Relay for Life is the signature fundraising event of the American Cancer Society. Supporters and participants note that it is much more than a walk around a track. It is a time to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember those who lost the fight and inspire those battling the disease to fight back. The public is invited to join the battle by supporting the local Relay for Life.
