Day of Prayer observed
The National Day of Prayer was observed Thursday, May 1. Morrison Grove Baptist Church, who hosted the observance locally, opened its doors at 8 a.m. for prayers. Ed Davis, local businessman and member of Millen Baptist Church, was the first to offer a prayer for the community and world. During the 7 p.m. service, residents were challenged to pray for the betterment of self and the world by the Rev. Steven Adams, pastor of West Millen Baptist Church. The local program was one of 3,500 held nationally. Local ministers who participated are, from left: Rev. Adams; the Rev. Christy Bandy, pastor of Millen United Methodist Church; the Rev. A.A.
