Regretfully, due to various circumstances, the Health Fair will be presented in a scaled down format this year. The laboratory will offer the "discount rate" lab package as a general health screening two days, May 20 and May 21 from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. The package will include a Complete Blood Count (CBC), Basic Metabolic Profile (BMP), AST (basic liver screen) and Lipid Profile (good and bad cholesterol screen) all for one price of $15. In addition to the tests offered in the package, participants will be given the opportunity to have their thyroid (TSH) and/or PSA (for males) screened for an additional $5 per test. No physician's order will be required, and the results will be sent to the participants only. It will be up to the participants to take the results to their physician if they so choose. The lab will not report the results to the physicians. The Lipid Profile and Glucose (included in the BMP) require an 8-12 hours fast in order to obtain accurate test results. No eating. You may have only water and your regular medications. Just present yourself to the registration desk at the Emergency Room entrance in the hospital to receive your lab packet and proceed up the hallway to the lab to have your specimen collected.
"This is a great opportunity for our citizens and a great health screen, which in the past has proven to uncover previously undiagnosed conditions. Don't miss it," said hospital officials. |
