Oliver's welcomes garden club
Members of the Azalea Garden Club held their April meeting at Oliver's General Store. A most interesting program on container gardening was presented by, from left, Tonya Cole and Susan Swanson. Each member was presented a booklet outlining types of containers, soil preparation and suitable plants for containers. How to make a summer blooming container garden was demonstrated using gerbera daisies, dianthus, celosia, marigold, phlox, million bells and zinnias. Following the program, President Bobbie Reid thanked members who participated in the planting of dwarf wax myrtles on Cotton Avenue. These plants were purchased with grant monies that the club received from National Garden Clubs, Inc. in conjunction with a native plant Civic Development project funded by The Principal Financial Group.
