Rev. William L. Coggins, 84, of Millen died May 3

The Rev. William Lester (Bill) Coggins, 84, of Millen died Saturday, May 3, 2008.

His funeral was 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Garfield Baptist Church. Burial was in the Hebron Cemetery.

Rev. Coggins was born in Madison County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Baptist minister. He was a member of Scarboro Baptist Church, where he had served as minister for 12 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Susan Lydia Coggins of Rochester, N.Y.; two sons, Randy (Beth) Coggins of San Antonio, Texas and Mark Anthony (Kim) Coggins of Millen; and six grandchildren, Katie, Allison, William, Caroline, Anthony and Meghan Coggins.

Active pallbearers were men of Scarboro Baptist Church.

Honorary pallbearers were members of Post 2776 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Memorials may be made to the local Cancer Society.
