Concerned citizens organize A group of citizens concerned about the local school system met for the second time Monday, April 28, at the Jenkins County Agriculture Center with approximately 35 persons in attendance. After some discussion, those present decided to form six-per- son peer groups representing each of the county's voting districts. The purpose of the groups would be to encourage someone from each district to seek election to the Jenkins County Board of Education (BOE) in the November General Election. Qualifying as a non-partisan candidate for the BOE will take place June 23-27. The districts up for election are District #1, currently represented by Roderick Campbell; District #3, currently represented by Roy Cook; and District #4, currently represented by Vickie Odom. For more information, contact Robert Jenkins, Dobbie Gay or Mary Sue Newton. |
