Local students visited the Middle Georgia College (MGC) of Aviation in Eastman on Friday, April 25.

The students were welcomed by Jeremy Bynes. Bynes is the computer specialist for Middle Georgia College of Aviation campus and a 2003 graduate of Jenkins County High School. Participants received information and updates on the many types of financial aid and the application process for MGC.

Students then received a tour of the aviation campus, which included the hangers, classrooms, control tower, an actual DC-9 airplane and simulation chamber.

Students were also able to tour the inside of the DC-9. This facility has a very "hands-on" environment. Students learned about the many aviation careers available, and the educational requirements.

Bynes ended with a final presentation on how he became the IT administrator, and he strongly encouraged the students to graduate high school and to continue with a secondary education.

The participants stated that it was exciting to hear of the career and income possibilities available with a degree from Middle Georgia College of Aviation.
