Miss Petty, Mr. Thorne to wed

Lauren Elizabeth Petty and Jere Tuttle Thorne Jr.

Mr. and Mrs. David Wehr of Marietta, Georgia are pleased to announce the engagement of her daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Petty, to Jere Tuttle Thorne Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Jere Tuttle Thorne of Madison, Georgia.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mable Fleming Corbitt of Willacoochee, Georgia and the late Mr. Joseph Wilbur Corbitt.

Miss Petty is a 2003 graduate of Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Georgia and a 2007 graduate of The University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Education degree in Middle Grades Education. She is employed as a Language Arts teacher with the Morgan County school system in Madison, Georgia.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Jacquelin W. Drewry of Athens, the late Mr. Lucius Drewry and the late Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Thorne Sr. of Millen, Georgia.

Mr. Thorne is a 1999 graduate of George Walton Academy and a 2004 graduate of The University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics. He served for three years as Member Services representative with the Georgia Agribusiness Council in Commerce, Georgia and, at present, is a Graduate Teaching Assistant pursuing a Master of Science degree in Economics at Auburn University.

The wedding is planned for July 11, 2008 at St. James United Methodist Church in Athens, Georgia.
