Absentee ballots are available Absentee ballots for the July 15 General Primary Election are now available in the office of the Jenkins County Registrar at the Jenkins County Courthouse. Voters may vote an absentee ballot by touch screen or mail until July 11. A photo I.D. must be presented. No paper ballots will be voted in the office. The last day the Jenkins County Registrar's office will mail absentee ballots is July 11. Voters do not have to give a reason for voting absentee when doing so by mail, and no photo I.D. is required. However, first time registrants who are making an application for a ballot by mail must provide one of the following as a form of identification: current utility bill, current bank statement, government check or paycheck, valid government document with name and address, Georgia's driver's license, valid I.D. card by any state or U.S. with photo, valid U.S. passport, valid government employer photo I.D., valid U.S. military I.D. card with photo or valid tribal I.D. card with photo. Advance voting, by touch screen only, will take place in the Registrar's office Monday, July 7, through Friday, July 11. Voters do not have to state a reason for not going to the polls on Election Day during this time period, but a photo I.D. is required. Forms of identification that will be accepted for voting at the polls on Election Day, or when voting absentee or during advance voting are; Georgia driver's license, valid I.D. card by any state or U.S. with photo, valid U.S. passport, valid government employer photo I.D., valid U.S. military I.D. card with photo or valid tribal I.D. card with photo. Anyone registered to vote as of June 16 is eligible to vote in this election. |
