Letters to the Editor Dear Editor, I don't understand how some things are so easily overlooked and allowed to happen in Millen. My granddaughter graduated this year. She was so happy and all of those students put so much effort and hours into this special event in their lives. This was so important to all of them and the staff. To me, it was a letdown and disappointment, the way those children in the audience were allowed to holler and carry on at such a sacred event. Maybe some people disagree with me, but each to his own opinion. I still feel like some member of our law enforcement should have been inside that building to enforce what the announcer had asked the people to please not do. They should have been escorted out of the building by that officer and let those children have their much deserved graduation take place in peace. Many of us left early because of this situation. Thank God I had parents that raised us not to do such a thing, and to respect other people. Like they said when someone did bad things against us or the law, "consider the source" it came from. I don't have to go to another graduation in Jenkins County again. But for those who will, I hope theirs will be more suitable for them, and shown more respect. Thank you, Barbara Burke Dear Editor, Thank you, Millen/Jenkins County! Starting a "Health Ministry" can be hard work. However, if we can enlighten the community in regards to the importance of getting regular checkups and taking care of the temple of God, it is well worth it. We give glory to God and thank Him for His intricate wisdom and direction as we prepared for this year's Wellness Walk/Health Fair. On behalf of our pastor, Elder Pearlstine O. Capers, and the Fountain Spring church family, we would like to give special thanks to Greg Griffin for allowing us utilization of Molly Park for this great event; Pam Drake, Maggie Drake, (volunteer nursing student,) and Donna Hendley from Jenkins County Health Department; Donna Burke from Jenkins County Hospital; Melissa Jones for information pamphlets; Subway for the donation of two sub trays; Rite Aid Pharmacy and Eagle Pharmacy for their donations; and Cindy Linder from Linder's Pharmacy for donations, setting up information booth and for her participation. Special thanks to Pastor Willie Dean Young and the New Testament church family for the donation of a sub tray, water and, most importantly, their presence. Thank you, Fountain Spring Baptist Church family, for taking out time on a Saturday to volunteer and help make this event a huge success! Last, but certainly not least, thanks to the citizens of Millen for participating and taking part in this community-wide event. It would not have been a success without you! Once again, we thank you for participating, and we look forward to seeing you next year! We pray that you continue to prosper and be in good health, even as your soul prospers.
