Hazel Newton Clayton, 83, of Millen died May 29

Mrs. Hazel Newton Clayton, 83, of Millen died Thursday, May 29, 2008.

Her funeral was held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at Oak Hill Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Clayton was born in Jenkins County, and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Millen Garden Club, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Millen Woman's Club and Oak Hill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Clayton; son, Stanley Greg Clayton; and grandson, Chris Clayton.

Survivors include her four sons, Jack Clayton of Wilmington, N.C. and Bill Clayton, Jerry Clayton and Ben Clayton, all of Millen; a brother, J. Ray Newton of Millen; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jed Clayton, Jay Clayton, Chris Earl Clayton, Dr. Kim Cook, Wayne McKinney, John Cleve Newton, Billy Clayton, Michael Krulic, Danny Clayton and Frankie Clayton.
