Kiddie Cheer

Camp

The Jenkins County High School (JCHS) varsity cheerleaders will hold "Kiddie Cheer Camp" 9 a.m. until noon Monday, June 16, through Friday, June 20, at the JCHS old gymnasium.

The camp is for children who turned 3 by Sunday, June 1, through those entering the eighth grade. The cost is $30 for one child; a discount will be given if more than one child in a household registers. Payment is due on or by the first day of camp.

The children will learn cheers, chants and a dance that will be performed for the parents on the last day of camp. Each child will receive a snack each day and a T-shirt, and will participate in different fun activities. Additional T-shirts can be ordered for $5.

Children may be preregistered through a varsity cheerleader; by calling Cindy Rich at 982-5937 or (706) 551-0985; or between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. on the first day of camp.

'39ers to meet

The '39ers will meet noon Monday, June 16, at the Millen Community House.

The Cotton Market

is open

Anyone with goods to sell is welcome to set up at "The Cotton Market" located on the south end of Cotton Avenue across from Regions Bank. Fresh produce is currently available daily. Vendors are encouraged to use the location for other products also, including flowers, plants, crafts and baked goods, as well as flea market and yard sale items. There will be no charge for the spaces, which are available on a "first come/first served basis." Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of the market, to both buy and sell. Vendors are requested to clean their area when they leave.

The Millen Rotary Club has made improvements to the area and has officially named it "The Cotton Market." Improvements include a paved walk and landscaping. The Rotary Club's goal is to provide a pleasant place for the community to sell and shop in the downtown area. The area is also designated for all street vendors, since city ordinances prohibit vendors from selling on the streets.
