Rebun L. Amerson Sr. of Millen died June 10 Mr. Rebun Lee Amerson Sr. of Millen, 92, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro. His funeral was held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at West Millen Baptist Church. Burial was in the Millen Cemetery. Mr. Amerson was born in Emanuel County. He was a retired carpenter, a veteran of World War II and a member of West Millen Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, William (Willie) Amerson; stepfather and mother, Bob and Maude Newton; and sister, Ruby Lutes. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Y. Amerson of Millen; a daughter, Pam Amerson; three sons, Durand (Buddy) Amerson, William (Billy) Amerson and Rebun L. Amerson Jr., all of Millen; 12 grandchildren, Brandy Thompson, Joannie Fries, Lee, Alicia, Chris and Brad Amerson and Chrissy Brackin, all of Millen, Briana Amerson of Harlem, C.J. Amerson of Ft. Hood, Texas, Brittany Amerson of N.C. and Jennifer and Micheal Chance of Millen; and eight great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Larry Thompson, Darrel Clifton, Henry Lee Royal, Charles Lindsey, Joe Wilson and Franklin Garvin. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Wallace, J.B. McMillan, Jerome Lane, Jimmy Knight, William Gunn, Henry Young and Ted McMillan. |
