Reception for new JCES principal

A drop-in reception to welcome the new Jenkins County Elementary School principal, James Franklin Jarvis Jr., will be held 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at the Jenkins County Agriculture Center.

Members of the community are invited to attend and extend a warm welcome to Mr. Jarvis and his family.

Confederate Memorial Service

Margaret Jones #27 UDC, in cooperation with Blackcreek Volunteers #939 SCV, will hold a Confederate Memorial Service for Owen Pinckney Smith, Co. K 42nd Regiment Ga., Volunteer Infantry 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at the Smith Cemetery, Hiltonia- Perkins Road, Screven County.

The public is invited to attend.
