BOE approves tentative budget The Jenkins County Board of Education (BOE) approved a tentative 2008-2009 budget of $12,040,812 during a called meeting held Monday, July 7. This represents an increase of $643,185 over the previous year's budget of $11,397,627. The effect the increase might have on property taxes cannot be determined until the BOE's millage rate is adopted. This will occur at a later date, after the state has approved local tax digest information. Other actions taken by the BOE included the following: • Tabled action on a driver's education proposal; • Adopted a spending resolution for the months of July and August; and • Accepted the resignation of Rochelle Sheppard, special education teacher at Jenkins County Elementary School. |
