On Monday, June 16, Swainsboro Technical College (STC) Medical Assisting Program students graduated from STC, and on Saturday, June 28, those same graduates completed the American Association of Medical Assistants Certification Exam at STC, which will help them seek employment in area health care facilities.
The hands-on training, work ethics and academic skills students learned at STC will help them begin a successful career in the health care field.
The Medical Assisting Diploma program is a sequence of courses which prepare students for careers in ambulatory health care facilities such as physicians' offices or other outpatient settings. The program emphasizes the students' development of basic medical office skills such as vital signs, assisting with minor surgery, medication administration, reception techniques, medical transcription, bookkeeping, computer skills, insurance coding, CLIA waived testing in urinalysis, blood chemistry, microbiology and phlebotomy. The Medical Assisting Program at STC is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) through the American Association of Medical Assistants Endowment (AAMAE.)
