An e-mail buddy sent me the following. I thought it worthy of passing along.

"The irate customer calling the newspaper office loudly demanded to know where her Sunday edition was. "Ma'am," said the employee, "Today is Saturday. The Sunday paper is not delivered until Sunday. "There was quite a pause on the other end of the phone, followed by a ray of recognition. "I'll bet that's why no one was in church today, too."

I haven't done that yet, but anything is possible!

The sheriff's race is in full swing and so is the rumor mill. Hopefully, our citizens will judge the candidates on their qualifications and not the "street talk" that is circulating. The sheriff's position is of great importance to this community and we cannot afford to let gossip sway our vote.

I personally think it is a shame that someone cannot seek elected office without being subjected to such viciousness. Politics in small communities is no different from the national level it seems.
