Datebook Skull Creek Missionary Baptist Church #2 Skull Creek Missionary Baptist Church #2 will celebrate its Men and Women Day Sunday, Aug. 3. Lane Grove Missionary Baptist Church Lane Grove Missionary Baptist Church will hold "Family and Friends Day" 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 3. The church is located on Georgia Highway 121. The Rev. Big Horse Creek Baptist Church Big Horse Creek Baptist Church has announced that Pastor Michael Miller will bring the Homecoming message during their 161st Homecoming Sunday, Aug. 3. The church is located at 1267 Buttermilk Road in Jenkins County. Church will begin at 11 a.m., with lunch afterwards in the church social hall. The public is invited to attend, bring a covered dish and enjoy the message and fellowship. 'Prayer Walking' The Millen Make-A-Difference Program will sponsor "Prayer Walking" 8 p.m. Sunday Aug. 3, at the Jenkins County High/ Middle School and Jenkins County Elementary School to pray for Jenkins County's students, teachers, parents, administration and staff. The public is invited to participate. 'Stuff the Bus 2008' Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center, Prevent Child Abuse Bulloch County and the Office of Child Support Services will be collecting school supplies 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 31, on the Jenkins County Courthouse lawn. Look for the school bus! Chickenpox Vaccine All children who will be entering kindergarten and the sixth grade are required to have the chickenpox vaccination or to show proof of immunity. Documents can be obtained on Form 3231 which can be issued by the health department or the doctor where your child receives immunizations. This form will be needed for school entry for kindergarten and the sixth grade this year, 2008. At the health department, the cost of the chickenpox vaccine is determined by the number in your family and by showing proof of total family income. GED testing The GED examination will be given at Swainsboro Technical College Monday, Aug. 4, and Tuesday, Aug. 5. Required registration will be held at 9 a.m. in building number 8, and at 6 p.m. in building number one, room 1109, on Monday, July 28. Picture identification and social security card must be presented, and the $95 test fee is due at registration. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. If applicants are 18 or 19 years of age, an official withdrawal from the last school attended must also be presented at registration. Blizzard sales to benefit Children's Medical Center Dairy Queen (DQ) stores across the CSRA will be serving one of DQ's signature frozen treats in support of the MCG Health Children's Medical Center during the third annual Miracle Treat Day, Thursday, Aug. 7. DQ in Millen, located at 1234 U.S. Highway 25 North, will donate a portion of the sale of every Blizzard to the children's hospital.
