County schools resume Aug. 4 The Jenkins County school system's 2008-09 school year will officially open for students on Monday, Aug. 4, under the leadership of Jenkins County School Superintendent, Joan Blackwood. Ms. Blackwood administers the work of the school system under the direction of a five member board of education as follows: Carroll Gay, Chairman; Roderick Campbell, Vice Chairman; Roy Cook, Irene Drummer and Vickie Odom. Central office support personnel are as follows: Marie Garvin, secretary to the superintendent; Melissa Williams, director of instructional services; Burt Carter, system technology specialist, Cindy Crawford, system level state data reporting specialist; Janet Fields, business manager; Jo Ann Shumake, payroll clerk; Johnnie Mae Sherrod, accounts payable/purchasing clerk; Emma Whiters, director of special services; Chris Hodges, school psychologist; Vivian Jenkins, special services secretary; Debra Herrmann, director of nutrition; Pattie McLeod, school food service secretary/ bookkeeper; Larry Adams, maintenance supervisor and Joe Hendley, maintenance assistant. The Jenkins County educational system is comprised of three schools, Jenkins County Elementary School (JCES), PreK-5, Jenkins County Middle School (JCMS), 6-8 and Jenkins County High School (JCHS), 9-12. The JCES operates under the direction of Principal, James Franklin Jarvis; Cynthia McNeely, assistant principal; Deborah Fountain, assistant principal/socialworker; and Jessica Reese, school secretary. The JCMS is staffed under the direction of Principal Nicole Moulton; Randy Dailey, assistant principal; Delane Davis, secretary/bookkeeper; and Carrie Foster, registrar/receptionist. The Jenkins County school system participates in the Partners In Education Program that enhances the relationship between the community and school.
