Datebook Optimist Club to hold Fish Fry The Millen Optimist Club will hold an Old-Fashioned Fish Fry 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Open Market across from Regions Bank. Tickets are available for $5 per plate. Plates will include fish, potato salad, string beans, pickle, bread and dessert. The public is invited to contact any club member to purchase an advance ticket. Country and Gospel Sing A Country and Gospel Sing will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at the Jenkins County Senior Citizens' Center. The public is invited. JCHS Class of 1979 plans 30-year Reunion Attention, all Jenkins County High School Class of 1979 alumni. A 30-year class reunion celebration is currently being planned, and the next meeting will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, in the Jenkins County Hospital Education Room. Edenfield Reunion The 56th Edenfield Family Reunion will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, at Magnolia Springs State Park Group Shelter 2. Those who attend are asked to bring their favorite dish. Contact Angie Lane at 982-4247 for more information. GED testing The GED examination will be given at Swainsboro Technical College Monday, Sept. 8, and Tuesday, Sept. 9. Required registration will be held at 9 a.m. in building number 8, and at 6 p.m. in building number one, room 1109, on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Picture identification and social security card must be presented, and the $95 test fee is due at registration. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. If applicants are 18 or 19 years of age, an official withdrawal from the last school attended must also be presented at registration.
